Boca Raton, FL. - December 22, 2003 - Grand Expeditions has selected Longitude™ for their tour and cruise system. Initial launch of Longitude™ will be with Grand Expeditions' Travcoa brand. The system will eventually be rolled out to all of Grand Expeditions' tour operating brands in the travel company's portfolio of luxury travel and adventure travel products.
Travel Sciences, Inc., a Hartford, CT-based travel software development company, developed Longitude™ as a browser-based, fully-integrated enterprise system including CRS and booking and reservations, CRM, e-marketing, accounting and back office, supplier management and business reporting modules, and robust inventory management and dynamic packaging modules all designed to meet the sophisticated requirements of tour operators, cruise lines, and other travel suppliers. Travel Sciences is also the developer of Travel Office™, which is the retail travel distribution desktop version of the core accounting, CRM, and booking and reservation applications underpinning Longitude™.
"We chose to work with Travel Sciences because we believe it has assembled the best team of travel and technology experts and that the Longitude™ system represents the most comprehensive and cohesive tour, cruise, travel management, and travel distribution technology in the marketplace. It is also the only technology that can handle the variety and multitude of brands and products our company represents, it is the missing ingredient in previous attempts at building multiple brand and rollup tour companies such as ours," said Hans Birkholz, President & COO of Grand Expeditions.
Longitude™ was recently launched this year with Los Angeles-based Uniworld, America's leading river cruise and tour company, which has seen significant business advantages as a result of the Longitude™ technology.
"Longitude™ is the first deployable web-enabled and browser-based system that includes true CRM functionality along with automated active and intelligent management of internal and external inventories, and dynamic packaging," said Michael Stone, Chairman and CEO of Travel Sciences. "The technology is a next generation, business-based platform that recognizes the need for enterprises to have a fully integrated, real-time data and application environment that provides a synchronized, coherent view of what is going on within a travel business: from the back office to inventory management, product building, marketing and promotions, reservations and booking, and most importantly to the customer."
